My Ethos

I am passionate about helping every combination that I coach to be the best and most successful that they can be, and to achieve the goals that they set out as individuals, whatever they may be.

I like to use the analogy of baking a cake to help my riders understand the ‘ingredients of training’.

The Analogy is formulated alongside the classic scales of training to create what I think is a recipe for success.

The cake analogy demonstrates that by investing time with the fundermentals and following a recipe, you can build a strong, successful and secure structure, that can with stand stresses of competition and daily life.

Although the cherry on top of many cakes is the competition, it can be any goal you have and are working towards. As a competitive person my measure was always my competition results and progressing ‘on paper’. However after a near fatal car accident in 2019 I realised that’s suddenly at that moment in time, the cherry on top of my cake was just being able to walk and physically get back on board a horse! I learnt a valuable lesson that not everyones goals are the same or stay the same, they change with time and circumstance, and individuals goals should not be over looked as they are massively important to that combination of horse and rider.
